Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s nominee for president, received honorary citizenship for Dallas, Texas, on Tuesday from Eric Johnson, the city’s mayor.

Obi announced the award via his verified Twitter account.

Obi will maintain a position of high esteem in the eyes of the residents of Dallas city, according to the mayor’s team, Johnson, who also confirmed that Obi had been granted honorary citizenship.

“Without a piece of doubt, with this conferment, you shall uphold a place of high esteem in the minds and hearts of the people of this great city (Dallas). Congratulations!” he said.
